It only takes my kids a few minutes on Halloween to gather up more candy then they could ever eat in their entire lifetime. And believe me, we ALL indulge in their trick-or-treating goodies. However, sometimes all the candy from too many parties and all the treats from their Halloween booty, can be a bit much. So if you’re looking for a few easy ways to balance out all of the candy treats, here’s four easy hacks for a healthier Halloween.
- Hand out non-candy treats to trick-or-treaters like this glow in the dark slime.
Here’s how you make it:
1 large bottle of white glue
1 bottle of glow in the dark craft paint
1 teaspoon borax
1 cup warm water
Mix the glue, paint and 1/2 of the warm water. Mix the other half of water with the borax and when dissolved, add it to the other mixture. Use your hands to mix the slime, and hen it begins to form, put the slime in individual containers like to-go salad containers. Finish by drawing jack-o-lantern faces with black marker on the containers.
2. Spell out HALLOWEEN with healthy letters snacks like Earth’s Best Sesame Street Organic Letter of the Day Vanilla Cookies. Such a fun idea for your younger kids!
3. Let your little ghosts and goblins fill up with healthy snacks befoe they head out to trick-or-treating. Try Elmo and Big Bird shapes of Crunchin’ Crackers and Grahams. Yummy flavors and these sacks will give your kids energy to keep up on the Halloween fun.
4. Let your witches and wizards refuel on drinks that are made from real fruit juice purees – perfect treat to go with any healthy snack.
Happy Halloween!
