Because Other Couples Arguing is Awkward and Hilarious, Right?

November 3, 2014 by amushro

When I was pregnant with my son, my husband had one job. ONE JOB. OK, maybe two: do his part to make the baby and get me to the hospital in a speedy but safe way when I was in labor. My darling little boy is evidence that my husband got his first job done. He probably even deserves a gold star for that job.  But the story behind his failure at job number two is beyond absurd and is featured in the hilarious new book Clash of the Couples, which is out today!

My story, Fetus, Take the Wheel, is just one of the essays you will find in this anthology, and I am thrilled to be included in a book with so many fantastic writers. I’ve been giggling through each story and love seeing inside some of the ridiculous and hilarious fights other couples find themselves in.

Clash of the Couples

The book has been endorsed by a number of humor and publishing heavyweights, including Josh Blue, comedian and winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and Abby Heugel, popular humorist and blogger at Abby Has Issues. Here’s what they had to say:

“If you’re looking for a fun read, check out Clash of the Couples. I could relate to the couples in this honest and hilarious collection of modern relationship tales. Clash of the Couples bursts with the real stuff that couples fight about and will make you laugh while shaking your head at the ridiculousness of it!” said Blue.

Heugel shares his sentiments. “Married, single, destined for spinsterhood—it doesn’t matter what angle you come at this book from, you will find something that you can relate to. And you will laugh, because even if you can’t relate to that particular situation, you’ll just be glad that it happened to somebody else.”

You should totally buy this book. Hey, why don’t you buy one for yourself and buy one for your friend who is getting married? Wait, I’ve got it, buy one for everyone on your holiday shopping list! Look at how helpful I am!

Hey, How About A Giveaway?

* I’m going to give a copy to two lucky winners!  To win  all you have to do is tell me about the most ridiculous fight you’ve ever had with your spouse. Keep it short and sweet! And don’t worry, I will totally take your side. I’llpick a winner on November 12! Good luck!*

My husband and I have been married for 5 1/2 years. The most ridiculous fight we have had up to this point was how we were going to get our stuff moved. I was going to borrow my parents truck. He wanted to rent a U-Haul. In the long run, I won the argument. Lol. We used my parents truck. When he saw how much money we saved, he told me I was right.

I can’t even think of something now, but I’m positive there have been some idiotic fights in the past! It’s human nature!

I’ve been married 23 years. The biggest fight is when we drove an hour past the exit we were supposed to get off at…back in the days of using road atlas’s. Yeah I’m not a good navi! Congrats on the book.

Lol! I haven’t got a hold of this book but I can sense a connection. The best part is making up after an argument.

I’m sure they are funny, but I’m sure they are also learning experiences. We’ve had fights that we can laugh at now AND have learned some things about each other because of those fights.

My first husband and I never fought. Ever. I never found it odd until I left and moved 1600 miles away. Now, I am remarried and my hubs and I are so much alike – but in the wrong areas. It causes us to be stubborn and we do tend to fight a lot.

I did not realize you went with that title! YAY! Aaaanyhoo, I’d love to win this book because so many of my favorites (you) are in it, so lemme hit you with a piece of this: the husband and I rarely fight. I mean, we bicker and whatnot, but fall down, drag out fights are rare.

    Unless.

The SOB falls asleep while I’m talking to him. Sure, I can be a bit long-winded but DETAILS ARE IMPORTANT. And at least once a month, he literally zonks out and doesn’t hear a word I say. I fly into a rage, wake him, he apologizes whilst sleeping, and then I don’t talk to him for a few days.

WAIT. A. MINUTE. is that his plan?! Ahole.

Ooh I’m in for the win on this one! Hmm let’s see we argue about things that are completely out of our control thanks to the Army. I mean really.. we go a round and then just give up.. LOL We are a mess..

I would really love to win this book. It looks hilarious to say the least. Ok I will admit this. I am not married YET but my future spouse and I fight about a lot of things, especially since he turned my boys against me. Against me by siding with him on how I act. My spouse admitted to me that he watches Modern family and he didn’t understand why he was drawn to it so. Then it hit him I remind him of CAM. I about died, I met my long lost twin!!! Well that annoyed me later when my kids will continue watching that show and when I start to talk about something they will say, ” Cam, Cam, calm down” Or ” Don’t be a Cam.” I get so angry even when I know I am not being dramatic. LOL Thats the best I got.

After over 36 years of marriage – I can tell you we have had some really stupid fights. I latest was where to put the milk in the fridge. Yep that is it…after 36 years+ of living with him – he decided to tell me that I am putting the milk in the wrong place in the fridge. I always put the milk on the door shelf -he thinks it belongs on the shelf inside the fridge. I looked at him then put the milk on the door shelf and left the kitchen. The milk in on the door 🙂 🙂
