Holiday Travel Hacks Every Parent Needs to Know

December 4, 2018 by amushro

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. But holiday travel your kids can feel like the most stressful time of the year. So arm yourself with a few parent hacks to make everything about the holidays (including the travel) amazing.

  • Hack baby-proofing- A pool noodle tucked under the sheets helps make a nice bumper for older kids and band-aids or painter’s tape work great for covering up sockets
  • Download a white noise app onto your phone. If the holiday parties are getting loud and make it hard for your little ones to nap or sleep at night, the white noise will help drown out the holiday excitement. You can even make a DIY speaker with a glass cup. Just pop your phone into the cup and it will amplify the sound.
  • Get headphones for your kids. Letting your kids watch movies in the car is perfect for long car rides; however, a few hours in the car where you have to listen to your child’s favorite movie over and over can make you go a bit bananas. So if your kids have headphones, they will be happy and you will be happy.
  • There’s no need to pack everything you need for your holiday travels. See which items you can have delivered once you reach your destination. Diapers and food are the perfect items to have shipped to your holiday destination using sites like Amazon, Target, and Walmart.

Creative Ways to Entertain Your Toddlers While Traveling During the Holidays

December 2, 2018 by amushro

You’ve packed snacks, toys, and electronics, but sometimes you need to be a little creative to keep your littlest travelers entertained in the car. So before you hit the road, here are a few items to be sure to stock up on to your toddlers will be happy the entire trip.

Gel Clings- Before you hit the road, grab a few packs of gel clings-you can find them at the dollar store- and when your little one starts to get bored, let them peel the clings off the paper and place them on the window. They can move the clings over and over again, and when they are done playing, you can simply toss them in the trash. This activity will keep your kids happy travelers.
Pipe Cleaners- A pack of pipe cleaners are inexpensive and can be turned into all sorts of fun shapes and designs-which is perfect for tiny travelers. You can even give your child a small bag of cereal and let them string the cereal onto the pipe cleaner for a fun activity and yummy snack.
Suction Cup Caddies- Just like you don’t want to keep turning around to grab that sippy cup, you don’t want to keep searching for crayons while driving. Head to the dollar store and grab a few small, plastic caddies with suction cups. These are usually meant to be used in the bathroom, but you can attach them to your car widows and load them up with crayons, markers, and stickers. Anytime your child feel creative, they can simply grab what then want from the caddie on the window and hopefully put it back

Tips for Making Holiday Travel with Your Baby Easier

November 30, 2018 by amushro

The holidays are such an amazing and exciting time-especially if you have a baby. If your holiday plans include traveling with your little one, here’s five tips for making your holidays away from home a little easier.
  1. Have essential items delivered to the place you are staying. So, instead of packing all supplies in your car, you can have items such as formula, or wipes ready for your when you arrive. Many grocery stores now offer a local delivery service, so you won’t have to worry about dealing with crowded stores. Whether you are staying at a family member’s house or staying at a hotel, deliver what you need so you can pack less.
  2. Pack their entire outfit in a plastic bag. Rather than packing tons of outfits, plan for the number of days you will travel and put each outfit into a plastic bag. This will keep you organized, make sure you don’t over pack, and will help when you need to decide what your little one will wear for the day.
  3. When you arrive at your destination, quickly access the room you will be staying in for quick baby proofing. But instead of breaking out the baby proofing supplies from home, use a little tape. Use duct tape or blue painters tape to quickly baby proof electric outlets when you arrive. If your little one often tries to take a swim in the toilet, add a little tape so they will stay out but you can get in. In a pinch, band aids can be used to cover electric outlets too.

Tricks to Stay Warm In the Car this Winter

November 30, 2018 by amushro

On a hot summer day, it can be painful to get inside a sweltering car-especially if you have kids. However, on a cold day, the inside of a freezing car can be just as miserable. So instead of simply layering up your family or hoping the car warms up before you reach your destination, here’s a few ways you and all your passengers can get the inside of your car feeling toasty and warm.

Since letting your car idle while it warms up inside isn’t great for your car’s engine or if you are trying to make less trips to the gas station, you’ll need to try a few different techniques to get a warmer car.

Consider where you park- If your car is parked outside, aim to park your car where it can get full sunlight. Especially in the morning. So park your car facing east so your car can be warmed by the sun.
You can actually purchase small heaters for the inside of your car to keep everyone feeling warm. This is a great option for families that have early commutes when the weather is the most cold. You can also purchase seat warmers and steering wheel warmers if you are feeling the freeze of the winter months.
